Coach Spoon (Dan Witherspoon III) is an alumni and former Football Letterman for Georgia Tech.
He restarted the Women’s Soccer Team for Fredrick Douglass HS and in four years has taken a team with zero soccer experience and skills to the state playoffs. The past two seasons they have been recognized as GHSA 5-AAA Runner Up for 2023, and 2024 respectively.
Through his soccer program he has created a pathway to college and other educational opportunities that many of his students may not have had access to. He has a 100% graduation rate, with a 3.9 average team GPA and a 70% college scholarship rate (academic and athletic)
